So you have a lot of photos

We have a LOT of photos hanging around. Maybe you inherited your parent's and grandparent's collection. You are the family archivist for the whole clan. Maybe you just love pictures and love to collect them. And now, with your phone, you take more photos than ever before, so your collection is growing both digitally and physically!

Why do you love photos? What makes them fun? Sharing them with friends, enjoying them with family, bringing back great memories are just some of the reasons pictures are important. What makes pictures no fun? Having photos hidden in old boxes, in old albums, in nice photo books, on your computer (or several computers), filling our phones, hiding on old hard drives, and memory cards. It's hard to find that picture you know you took at the lake when Grandma was there two years ago. There is never enough wall space to display all of your favorite photos. A lot of your pictures probably haven't been seen for years or were never seen after they were taken.

How many of your photo prints are still in the processing envelopes they arrived in? How many are on your phone now? How many are on your computer?

We all want to get them together, in one collection, so that we can share them, enjoy them, and find all the great photos of your Great Uncle that recently passed away who told the best stories. That is what makes pictures a joy. Photos are a gateway to the story of our families. The joys, the heartaches, the birthdays, the anniversaries, the graduations, the summer family get-togethers, the pictures with Santa, the births, the awkward moments, and the funerals.

How do we get started? During September, Save Your Photos Month, I will be posting daily tips, pointers to free online classes, and ideas for getting your family photos into a collection you can share and enjoy.

If you feel a bit overwhelmed by your collection of pictures, I can help you get to an organized collection sooner, using the photo scanning and organization services I offer through The Picture Org(anizer).
