Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer? Our services include photo organization, metadata management, backing up/consolidating libraries, digitizing various media (prints, negatives, slides, audio and video tapes, 8mm and 16mm film, documents, art, memorabilia, etc.), and providing guidance on tools like Mylio Photos.
Do you offer non-destructive scanning for fragile items?Yes. We never use automatic feeders or rollers that risk damage. Instead, we use high-resolution camera systems—similar to museum archival methods—to capture images.
What resolution do you recommend for archival quality? Our standard minimum is 300 PPI, which is excellent for most needs. We can provide higher resolutions if requested. Slides and negatives are scanned at approximately 4000 PPI.
Can you split videos into individual scenes?Yes, we can split videos by when the camera was turned on or off. This is a manual process that involves an hourly labor charge.
How do you handle fragile letters or photos? We handle them with gloves and place them under Museum Glass for a flat, clean capture.
What is the estimated turnaround time?Typically, around two weeks, though this can vary based on the current workload and the size of the project.
How are my files delivered?Files are delivered either via secure digital download in an online gallery (JPEG/MP4). USB memory sticks and external hard drives are available for an additional fee.
How do you handle duplicate files during organization?Part of the organization process includes identifying and removing duplicate copies of photos to keep your library clean.
