Holidays and your photos

An older woman and man holding and reviewing old black and white family photos.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s the holiday season when time both speeds up and slows down. It’s also when families get together, making it a perfect time to get some older family photos identified.

If you’ve become the keeper of the family photo collection, through passings or downsizings, you probably have a lot of printed photos with people you only have some idea who they are. During that part of Thanksgiving when the turkey is done, and some people are watching the game, it’s a great time to bring people back to the table and find out who they think these unidentified people are.

But don’t bring out the entire photo collection, you might scare people off. Take a few moments before the weekend and find 10 or 20 photos you like and have those out for people to look at. Allow your family to reminisce and chat about the events and people in these photos.

If you find your family is having fun with the little collection, that’s the time to bring out the big box of photos and the old albums. You never know what you will find out and what stories will be told.
